Join the Vento Solare crew at the 2025 awards banquet.  Bill & Cindy are heading out on a cruise and need the crew to pick up the fall series award.  Tickets are $55 per person and may be purchased at this link.

  • Remove boat cover and pack sand bags
  • Replace winter halyards
  • Flush / Fill potable water tank
  • Wax hull & Teflon coat, buff out
  • Wax topside surfaces
  • General boat inspection – make punch list for items needed to be done
Bill will bring beer, Murphy's oil soap, rags, vacuum (already on boat)
  • Declutter interior (tools, etc.)
  • Vacuum interior
  • Wipe down all interior surfaces with Murphy's oil soap
  • Complete wax hull & Teflon coat if not finished
  • Wax topside surfaces if not finished
  • Polish topside stainless
  • Tape lifelines
  • Set rig & label turnbuckles
  • Make new labels for topside as needed
  • Put equipment on aft rail

We'll get delivered in one car to BLM  so no cars are stranded.

Everyone bring a water bottle Bill will have sandwiches and snacks.  Beer and seltzer are in the reefer.

Note: We will have extra people onboard and will rotate through for training evolutions. Normally we limit max crew to 8  (7 for OD events). For training will have 10 and may put 2 below on rotational basis. 

Homework Assignment: Please review this presentation on using the instruments – J/109 Vento Solare Crew Training for B&G Instruments

Please be at the dock on time to stow gear and a quick brief so we can be out on the water at 5:15pm.  

Those needing a ride on base please meet 7:45 am at the Pass & ID parking lot to be driven on base. If you arrive a few minutes early call Bill so I can meet you to on the causeway to drive on base

Walk through settings on dock, then leave dock @ 5:15pm sharp.
–Practice upwind settings, tacks, calling wind and shifts, crew communications, jib trim and inhaul settings
–Spinnaker sets, jybes, downwind settings, crew communications
–Dust off the cob webs and instruct new crew on Vento Solare race routine and instruments
