Volunteers should bring a personal reusable water bottle

On water personnel should dress appropriately for multiple hours outdoors -prepare for any kind of weather/sea conditions. Dress in layers, don’t wear cotton clothing

Daily Race Management meeting will be held at old Sail Newport building, Stake & Marshal boat representation is mandatory. Debrief of previous day’s event, assignments and lunches will be distributed at that time. Reference schedule for daily meeting times

Daily location assignments for Stake Boats will be distributed by phone and email each evening starting on PRACTICE RACE DAY, May 17

GENERAL MARSHAL/STAKE BOAT GUIDELINES

  • Spectators afloat will want to get close to the action. Be courteous, specific and firm!
  • One person should remain at the helm and another communicate with spectators
  • Encourage intruders to move out from the Race Course by giving them specific instructions –such as “please move to the west”
  • Make sure your radio remains on the appropriate channel –low power should suffice
  • We are not authority figures, but positive ambassadors for the sport
  • In the event of an emergency involving a spectator boat, call the Coast Guard on Ch 16
  • Race Event Management will control competitor emergency situations
  • You will be given specific coordinates to hover, not anchor your vessel, it is important to maintain this position.
  • You are expected to command or delegate command to a competent operator and provide an assistant to help perform the duties of the Stake Boat
  • A maximum of three “crew” is to be observed, and YOU MAY bring guests, provided they do not provide a distraction
  • Communications with Race Management will be conducted according to the Communication Plan

Mitchell Regatta Rules 2022

Pursuit race to BI – non spinnaker.  PHRF 96 (class jib) Be at dock 9am to load up.
Staying at Payne’s Dock

Those needing base access please meet 7:45 am at the Pass & ID parking lot so he can drive his car on base.

Bill –  Bringing yogurt, coffee & hard boiled eggs for breakfast Sunday & Monday
TBD – Bringing lunch of Saturday and some munchies for snacks, responsible for Bloody Mary Contest!
TBD – Bringing one dinner to have on boat, the other will be in town. Also bringing lunch for Monday
All – bring your desired cold beverages.  There is complimentary Narragansett Beer available on the dock.

All those staying on boat – bring sleeping bag, towel and quarters for showers at Payne’s Dock.

Bill brings fender board, long dock lines, shore power cable, cocktail table and boom tent. Since only 3 people I will not bring V-Berth cushions. The heater/AC will be on the boat.

Friday

  • 6:00pm Skippers Meeting – Get official start times and sailing instructions

Saturday

  • 9:00am Start – Newport. The first boat will start at 9:00am, and the rest will follow based on handicap.
  • 6:00pm Finish – New Harbor, Block Island – If you can’t finish by 6:00pm give up, turn on your engine and come in for beer.

Sunday

  • 10:00am Bloody Mary Contest (virgin of course) – Back by popular demand. Bring your own concoction. What you do with the mixes after the judges taste them is up to you.
  • 3:00pm Hors d’oeuvres – On the dock. Be ready to present your best hors d’oeuvres for judging in taste and presentation. Partaking requires participation!
  • 4:00pm Awards – On the dock.

Monday

  • Leave as you so desire or continue to enjoy the island. Be sure to check with your dock
    mates in case any of them want to leave early.
