    Good afternoon, Sail for Pride Competitors, 

    The Sail for Pride Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the 25th Anniversary Sail for Pride race and Social that were to take place on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The National Weather Service has issued a Gale Warning for Narragansett Bay. This marks only the second time in 25 years that inclement weather has forced us to cancel racing, and on both occasions we made the decision to ensure the safety of sailors and volunteers. We have rescheduled the 25th Anniversary Sail for Pride Regatta to the new date of September 25, 2027.

    We hope this announcement provides adequate time for you to adjust your plans and secure boats ahead of the approaching nor’easter.

    Please remember that this event has always been about more than racing. Our goals have always been to come together as a community to remember those victims and their families who were affected by the tragic events of 9/11. Also, it’s central to this event to raise funds for charitable organizations that support victims and their families. Although we can’t be together in person this year, the spirit of remembrance and community support will continue. 

    As a reminder, this year’s benefiting charities are:

    Folds of Honor

    Warrior Sailing

    Please consider converting your entry fee to a donation distributed equally among these three charities. If you would prefer a refund, please email  Hannah Lasorsa no later than October 2, 2026.
