Vento Solare launched at Borden Light Marina on 15 April The wet and wild March potentially pushed the launch date out, but over the past week the weather cooperated. It was warm enough to do the cosmetic gelcoat touchup that was on the list. Thanks go to Gardner Howe for stepping up with hull waxing and wet sanding.
The boat has been cleaned inside and out. The reefer temperature has been operationally checked at 42 degrees and is stocked with beer. Now that the boat is in the water a few tasks are scheduled topside and up the mast so we can start sailing again. A trip up the mast is planned on Wednesday 17 April, followed by initial rig tuning. Sails are on the boat and ready to bend on to do instrument calibration.
Vento Solare is very ready for the season. Plans are to find a nice day this coming week to bring Vento Solare to her slip at the Navy marina. Our first crew practice is Tuesday, April 30th followed by another on 7 May. The first race is the JYC Tuesday night series in on 14 May. I will be making crew assignments for practice and the May events this week. Looking forward to seeing you all and being on the water again.
