We are introducing a new team website for 2018. This replaces the old Teamsnap site we used in past years. Initially this will have a calendar listing all the events. Each event has the crew availability uploaded to the new site for display in the calendar post with integration of the crew signup feature that is now available. An email notification feature with upcoming events will also be added. The full featured site will include the following (Status updates complete annotated in Blue text, to be done later in Red text):
(Updated by Bill on 6 June!)
- Match a crew member to a position. Defined positions can be from a dropdown to include positions such as the following:
Bow, Mast, Trimmer, Pit, Main, Helm, Squirrel, Snacktician, Crew, Guest, etc. - Check box to designate Tactician to any position assigned above
- Text field to indicate selected people responsible for beverages – can assign to multiple people
- Text field to indicate person responsible for snacks – can assign to multiple people
- Button for admin to email crew with text box to enter subject field (Defaults to Skipper’s Message about Regatta Name, Regatta Date) , and another text box for message
- People can login and select a page that provides a regatta matrix for the season (current calendar year) and set their availability (yes, no, maybe)
- Columns are Regatta Date & Time (all dates on repeating are populated in list), Regatta Location, Crew Position Assigned, Crew Member’s Availability
- Rows are chronological with these fields Date, Regatta Name, Crew Position Assigned, Crew Member Availability (dropdown for crew member logged in)

- A subsection for each event lists the following:
Crew Members Name, Crew Position Assigned, Crew Member’s Availability, Beverages & Snacks Assigned - Events are listed chronologically and Crew members are sorted alphabetically. Crew members listed are those who are available or maybe, and have not been assigned a crew position of “Stay Ashore”
- The default view is a list that may be changed to a monthly or weekly view showing the events.
- When a person mouses over a regatta it will pop up the regatta info that includes: Regatta Name, Regatta Date, Dock Time, Boat Location and a text summary excerpt (not the full text available by clicking on the popup).

I’m sorry I cannot be there - my work in CT day
A great weekend on Block Island with Kathy, Claire & Bill. Great race results and appetizer contest results. We were fortunate to have the blender and the heater on the boat. After a nice weekend on Block Island we had a fast ride back with everyone taking time on the helm.
A few pictures from our family sail on Grandpa's birthday weekend. Unfortunately hurricane Ophelia changed our plans for a weekend on Block Island. We did a Friday evening sail in Newport, grabbed a mooring for cocktails and dinner, then went back to our slip at the Navy marina. We stayed on the boat Friday night and went to the YMCA for Isla's soccer which was moved to the indoor gym.
Underway on Vento Solare with Grandpa, Kai, Daddy & Isla
Enjoying appetizers in Newport Harbor before sunset.
Family dinner on Vento Solare while on the mooring.
Kai's note to Grandpa for his birthday weekend.
A great weekend of racing with everybody with Vento Solare finishing 2nd place overall. Crew work was fantastic all three days. Starting from the bow with Roland, mast with Will, pit with Andrew, trimming with Sarah & Mary, and main / tactics with Trevor (Jeff Roy for Around the Island on Friday). We saw the full spectrum of wind from 5 to 22 kts over 3 days.
Congrats to Divided Sky who put up all first place finishes. The rest of the class including J/109 URSA, J/99 Upbeat, Sunfast 3300 Avalon and Express 37 COUCOU all provided the challenge as fierce competitors.
