Ahoy!  Cindy & Bill are hosting an open house for the extended Vento Solare crew starting at 6pm Saturday 31 Jan.  Please bring your first mate and join the crew at our house.  We'll have plenty of food and drinks.

When you set your availability, please include in the Crew Comment block if you are bringing a guest, and what dish you will be bringing.  Potluck assignments are based on last name as follows:

• A-I: Appetizer
• J-M: Side Dish or Salad
• N-S: Main Dish
• T-Z: Dessert

Additional beverages to share are always welcome. We'd also like to share pictures from our time on the water.  If you have a CD, memory stick or photo site with pictures for a slide show, please send or bring the pictures to run on the big screen.

When you RSVP, please indicate what you'll be bringing per the potluck assignments above.

Be at Borden Light Marina - Mon. Apr 6th @ 10:00AM EDT

Bill will bring sandpaper, sanding pads and poles, hoses, buckets & nitryl gloves. 

Wear old clothes.

There will be beer available for after we sand with 320, 400 & 600 grit paper.

Meet 10am at Navy Marina or  10:30 at Borden Light Marina per assignments in crew list.  

We'll get delivered in one car to BLM  so no cars are stranded.

Everyone bring a water bottle Bill will have sandwiches and snacks.  Beer and seltzer are in the reefer.

Should be a nice cruise from Borden Light to the Navy Marina.

Note: We will have extra people onboard and will rotate through for training evolutions. Normally we limit max crew to 8  (7 for OD events). For training will have 10 and may put 2 below on rotational basis.

Please be at the dock on time to stow gear and a quick brief so we can be out on the water at 5:15pm.  

Those needing a ride on base please meet 4:45 pm at the Pass & ID parking lot to be driven on base. If you arrive a few minutes early call Bill so I can meet you to on the causeway to drive on base

Walk through settings on dock, then leave dock @ 5:15pm sharp.
--Practice upwind settings, tacks, calling wind and shifts, crew communications, jib trim and inhaul settings
--Spinnaker sets, jybes, downwind settings, crew communications
--Dust off the cob webs and instruct new crew on Vento Solare race routine and instruments

1. Compass  (offset & deviation circles)
2. Speed Log (measured distance)
3. Wind Angle (offset & check tack to tack)
